Douglas awarded Best Parkland Course in Munster by Golfer’s Guide To Ireland

Douglas Golf Club was named as the Best Parkland Course in Munster at a joint Golfers Guide to Ireland 2019 /PGA Gala Dinner at the Druids Glen Hotel on Monday last December 10th.

Other provincial parkland winners were Lough Erne Resort (Ulster), Dun Laoghaire (Leinster) and Westport (Connaught).

Adare Manor was named as Best Overall Golf Resort. Waterford Castle was awarded Best Value in a Parkland Course in Munster, with Dooks winning Best Value in a Links Course in Munster.

Speaking after receiving the award, Douglas Golf Club President, Kate MacCann, said that she was delighted to accept the award on behalf of Douglas Golf Club. “This award as Best Parkland Course  in Munster reflects the considerable development work done on the course in recent years with improved bunkering, tees, drainage and planting, as well as the extensive new practice facilities developed during 2018 which will open for play in May 2019. It also reflects the excellent work done by our course maintenance staff who have the course and practice facilities in consistently good condition throughout the year.”

This is the latest in a series of awards to Douglas in recent years. Douglas was named as the Cork Golf Club of the year in both 2016 and 2017 by the Cork Business Awards, as well as receiving awards from the Golfers Guide to Ireland in 2014 and 2018.
