2017 has been an unprecedented year for Douglas Golf Club on the International golfing front with three Douglas members receiving international caps.

Peter O’Keeffe was selected for the Irish Men’s International Team and helped Ireland win the Home Internationals played in Moortown, Leeds in August. Prior to this, of course, Peter won the 2017 Irish Amateur Open Championship at Royal County Down Golf Club, the premier amateur championship in Ireland.

Karl Bornemann was selected for the Irish Senior Men’s Team and represented Ireland at  the European Senior Men’s Team Championship  played in Malmo, Sweden,  with Ireland winning the European Title.

Sara Byrne was selected on the Irish Girls Under 18 Team for the Girls’ Junior Home Internationals. Sara was also selected to represent Great Britain & Ireland  in the Junior Vagliano Trophy against the Continent of Europe which was played in Italy.

To celebrate the terrific achievements of our three 2017 International Golfers, a Special Celebration Evening  will be held in the Clubhouse on Friday,  November 17th commencing at 7.30 pm. All members are invited to join in the celebration and to have the opportunity to congratulate our golfers on their great success in 2017.

As there is obviously a maximum capacity that the Clubhouse can take,  admission will be by ticket only. Tickets are free and are now available from the Pro Shop, the Bar, and the Restaurant. A limit of two tickets per person will apply.    Finger food will be provided after the formalities.

International selection represents one of the highest honours and achievements for an amateur golfer and having three Internationals in the same year is a great honour for Douglas Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 17th to mark this great achievement.
